WAPA FALL RALLY

The Washington Automotive Press Association is pleased to announce our 2019 Rally on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay! As in the past, attendees will be able to experience a behind-the-wheel test of new vehicles from a variety of automobile manufacturers. Representatives from the manufacturers will be on hand, so this is an excellent opportunity to network with them and other members.

WAPA Members will gather at the Falls Church Location of Coleman Power Sports (435 S Washington Street) to learn more about motorcycles, ATVs and all things
We will gather for a light lunch and hear from Andria Yu, Director of Communications, Motorcycle Industry Council, on the current state of the motorcycle industry. Then tour the dealership with Kim Harrison, General Manager, Coleman Powersports, to look at and discuss the different models and makes of Motorcycles. Then conclude with Reno Birt, Director of Training, PowerRide University talking about rider training and licensing in the DMV.
This is a follow-up event from this past winter’s Progressive Motorcycle Show, and prepare us for the upcoming January 10th, 2020 Washington DC Motorcycle Show Media Day.
A MORNING OF HISTORIC VEHICLES AT THE CAPITAL
When: September 12-27, 2019
Where: The National Mall
The exhibit is located between the National Gallery of Art and the National Air & Space Museum
Celebrate Historic Vehicles – Join WAPA Members on September 12, 2019, on America’s Front Lawn, the Washington National Mall in celebration of two historically significant vehicles in American History that will be on display from September 12 – 27.
September 12 – 19 Apollo 12 Astronaut Alan Bean’s 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
September 20 – 27 1966 Volkswagen Type 2 “Microbus” owned by Esau and Janie B. Jenkins
Each will be a part of the Historic Vehicle Association (HVA) Cars at the Capital exhibition on the National Mall in Washington D.C. Displayed in the HVA glass enclosure on the walkway between the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, the exhibition is free to the public.
These historically significant vehicles are privately owned and are being commemorated and recorded as part of the HVA’s National Historic Vehicle Register program, in partnership with the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) to be permanently archived in the Library of Congress.
